Meet Our Resident Scholar
Shaykh Mohamed Almasmari
RESIDENT SCHOLARBorn and raised in Michigan and of Yemeni descent, Sh. Almasmari pursued advanced Islamic studies, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Islamic Sciences. He received numerous ijazaat in Quran, Tafsir and Muslim, as well as in the works of Imam al-Nawawi and Imam al-Shawkani, with a specialization in fiqh. He has served as an imam for 20 years, holding leadership roles in California, Brooklyn, and Michigan. He currently serves as the Resident Scholar at UMMA.
